In the week when the London lockdown finishes and bars and pubs finally open again under new slightly crazy regulations, I talk with Jade Phoenix, aka Lady Phoenix.
She is the half Chinese, half Filipino Transwoman, who did the impossible, she founded a new queer bar in North London in 2020 : Zodiac bar.
We talk gender and identity in the Phillipines and how she loves both Karaoke in her kitchen and Spam with eggs. We discuss identity vs. sexuality, pingpong playing in Regent’s Park, Soho karaoke bars, special Lugaw in Manila and how there is no difference between “he” and “she” in Tagalog.
