Despite the ICJ ordering Israel to take steps to prevent genocidal acts, Israel has continued its brutal assault on Gaza. The UK and US governments have responded with contempt by cutting off aid to the people of Gaza and continuing their complicity in genocide by refusing to stop sending arms to Israel. There have been air strikes on Iraq and Syria, and the US and the UK have escalated the bombing of Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the world. Yemen has already been the victim of a nine-year war with Saudi Arabia – a war fuelled by £5.3billion of UK arms sold to Saudi Arabia. The imperialist actions of the US and UK (once again) in the Middle East now risks Israel’s war on Gaza spreading further to include Iran and the rest of the region. This is why we must continue to put pressure on the UK government to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, to stop bombing Yemen and go stop their race to war.
