VICTORIA PARK – A MELANCHOLIC SPLENDOUR – WALKING TREES COLLECTIVE X ARTIST & TAI CHI’ER HELEN WILSON
Join us for our next Walking Trees Collective with the incredible Artist and Tai Chi-er Helen Wilson!
We’ll meet in Victoria Park, 26th October, 1-3.30pm.
For this exciting wonder-wander we’ll be leaning in to the beautiful and powerful melancholic nature of Autumn, tuning into our lungs and their capacity to hold both expanse, joy and grief and weaving in traditional Chinese Medicine theory to deepen an embodied relationship to these Autumnal months.
Expect; breath work, gentle, nurturing movement, connecting to the natural splendours of Victoria Park and its history, creative prompts such as drawing, creative writing and journalling.
What does it look and feel like to hold space for the melancholic nature of Autumn? How can we utilise the power within the melancholic for transformation and creative process/discovery? Can we approach impermanence with lightness? What lessons do the trees share with us through this season?
Come along to explore and open, move, ponder, reinvigorate and reflect as a group – above all else, this is a lovely way to meet new people, be outside moving and to learn about ecology through creative engagement.
No previous art making is necessary and all materials, snacks and tea are provided.
We aim to make our walks as accessible as possible, please let us know if you require specific access needs, we’d love to hear from you.
Come with an open mind and an experimental hat and let’s explore creatively. We are a LGBTQIA+ space open to all and all backgrounds.
Any questions, please message and we’ll come back to you as soon as possible. Oh and please share with anyone/community networks who you think will love this.
ABOUT WALKING TREES COLLECTIVE:
‘Walking Trees Collective’ was founded by graduates of Goldsmiths MA Art and Ecology programme, Finlay Forbes-Gower and Sophie Hughes. Through experimental participatory arts, we explore some of the most pressing ecological questions of our time. Since 2021, Walking Trees Collective has been facilitating monthly gatherings to explore the parks and waterways of London as spaces of quiet blue and green resistance. Our walks engage with the historical, social and ecological themes of each space as well as exploring our embodied relationships to place.
We use a range of guided prompts including meditation, drawing, poetry, journaling and movement to disrupt fixed narratives to make space for participants to form deeper attentive connections with all that’s growing and flowing around them. Each event is uniquely curated in relationship to the seasons, history and feeling of the site.
Our events are open to the public, we are a LGBTQIA+ welcoming space, open to all abilities and all backgrounds.
