After storming Queer as Joke in June – Kate Cheka is back to bring you “A Messiah Comes (WIP)

The reigning Funny Women Award winner and Chortle Best Newcomer nominee brings you her debut hour where she tries to save the world. Where does this messiah complex come from? Is it the second coming or has she just inherited her mother’s psychological disorder? If you’re anxious about the state of the world (or just your own mental state), join this ‘impressive, frank and relatable’ (Chortle.co.uk) BBC New Comedy Awards semi-finalist as she becomes the first woman to wonder what many men have wondered before her: am I actually God?

Kate Cheka
Kate Cheka is a stand-up and writer who has performed in over ten countries across four continents. She began in Berlin where she organised and hosted two shows, a femme identifying open mic and a women of colour showcase. Aside from winning the Funny Women Awards she was also a Chortle Best Newcomer nominee 2024, Funny Women Award semi-finalist (2022 & 2021), BBC New Comedy Awards regional finalist, and nominee (2019) and Berlin New Stand-up Award finalist 2019.

 

She’s a smart operator, but wears it lightly, mixing opinionated stand-up with frank and relatable “what was I thinking?”-type personal anecdotes, all delivered with poise’ – Steve Bennett, Chortle

Rachel Baker

In a recent poll 84% of people said Rachel Baker looked like the Megabus man. Unlike the Megabus man though Rachel is a fresh talent on the Birmingham Comedy Circuit, a Finalist of the Funny Women Awards 2023 and Birmingham Breaking Talent Nominee 2023 Sometimes a character comedian sometimes chatting about being a silly billy, she is guaranteed to make you chuckle.

 

Scarlett Kefford

Comedy writer, sit-down comic and advocate for venues that are accessible and comedy that isn’t. Recent credits include Iain Sterling’s Celebability & various sketches for BBC Radio 4.
