Washing Machine Vortex, a ‘Greek-style’ tragedy is a new solo performance by Sarah MK Archdeacon. It tells the story of rediscovering the power of feminism in your 50’s and of finding new expression post menopause. 

Sarah goes on a journey through the past to learn the patriarchal routes of psychiatry, liberating her to love her vagina and evoke the spirit of change through the Greek tragedy character of Electra. 

Washing Machine Vortex creates space to think about time, ageing, memory and families using autobiography, photographic visuals and an evocative ’60’s soundtrack. Washing Machine Vortex is made in collaboration with performer Hannah Lane and artist Jon C Archdeacon, and with outside eye support from Tom Marshman.

Sarah’s recent work includes Singing Surf presented at Chelsea Theatre, 18 Shows Festival 2023, Up A Ladder with Yoko Ono at Georgian House Museum 2019, and Celestial Navigation at Calder Bookshop Theatre 2019. Based in London, alongside her own practice, Sarah is Artistic Director of award winning performance company Corali.
